Rosé Wines ready to brighten your summer days

Figuière 2017 Première Rosé

Produced from organically grown grapes, this wine has a streamlined sense of purity on the palate. Its intense acidity with red-currant fruitiness and its mineral texture add an extra bite, making it a great wine with food. Drink now. 91 Points.

Chateau Sulauze - Pomponette Rose Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence 2018

Sulauze Pomponette is a classic Provencal rosé: pale pink/salmon in color with aromatics that are bright and clear. The Rolle (Vermentino) gives this wine a raciness that keeps you coming back for more! It is wonderfully crisp and flavorful on the palate with medium body and notes of red berries, bing cherries, spice and no oak. The finish is long and refreshing.

Region: Côtes de Provence, Provence, France
Varietal: 60% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Vermentino, 15% Cinsault, 5% Mourvedre
Price: $17

Commanderie de Peyrassol "Commanderie" 2018

Its rosy appearance is soft as a dream, and an expressive, gourmet nose lends charm to this blend dominated by wild berries: gooseberry and raspberry reveal themselves in a crisp, silky palate enhanced with an elegant touch of minerality. Ideal as an aperitif, to accompany tapas, but also goes well with all varieties of grilled fish, beef or fish tartare and fresh berry desserts. (Winemakers Notes).

So pale as to be almost white, this wine is fruity and just lightly tannic. It has a zesty texture, with the merest hint of tannins and plenty of intense fruitiness. The wine is sophisticated and beautifully ready to drink. (Wine Enthusiast- 91)

Miraval Rose 2018

Pretty petal pink color with shiny undertones. This 2018 vintage instantly reminds of Provence with its beautiful aromas of fresh fruit and spring flowers. Airy and balanced, it delicately combines great freshness and complexity, and develops saline and mineral notes. Its long and intense finish is the signature of a rosé with incomparable elegance: Miraval. Issued from the Château’s best parcels (Muriers, Longue, Romarin), and from selected parcels in the best terroirs of Provence. Clay & Limestone vineyard, partially in terraces located at an average of 1200 feet above sea level. Miraval's cold air pulling valley offers greater diurnal temperature variation. (Winemaker Notes)

Bottled just a few weeks before my visit, Miraval's 2018 Cotes de Provence Rose was in fine form. A blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 10% Syrah and 10% Rolle, it boasts floral and melon aromas, while on the palate, it's medium-bodied, plump and fleshy, with a zesty, tangerine-tinged finish.  (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate)

Domaine de Marquiliani

A domaine, based on the mountains-meet-Mediterranean coast of eastern Corsica, is so modest in scale that satisfying the ever-growing demand will be no easy feat. On the bright side, she has supplemented her precious Rosé de Sciaccarellu with this bottling, an exotic blend of Syrah and Sciaccarellu with a perfumed splash of Vermentinu. Also feather-light on the palate with lovely delicate aromatics, Pauline is a bit rounder and fuller—relatively speaking. For ethereal, salty, mouthwatering Corsican pleasure, Marquiliani is where it’s at. —Anthony Lynch

Region: Vin de Corse, Corsica, France
Varietal: 50% Syrah, 40% Sciaccarellu, 10% Vermentino
Price: $28

Domaine Zuria, Bonifaciu Rose (Corsica) 2016

“The Nielluciu (Sangiovese in Corsica) gives the dark color, the Sciacarellu (Pollera Nera in Corsica) brings crispiness as the Grenache gives the fruitiness. Light pink almost clear with floral aromas like cranberry, blackberry and blackcurrant. Soft attack to the palate with generous fruit, explosion of berries to a lingering finish.” - Notes from the Producer

Region: Bonifacio, Corsica, France
Varietal: 90% Sciaccarellu, 10% Morescono
Price: $20

La Spinetta Il Rose di Casanova 2018

Light orange-pink in color. Intense tangerine, white peach and strawberry scents complicated by suave floral and mineral on the nose. Shows impressive clarity and stony cut to the juicy citrus and red fruit flavors, which deepen steadily on the back half, the floral note comes back strong on a very long, penetrating finish that shows highly appealing silkiness and stony lift. (Winemakers Notes)

Region: Sangiovese, Tuscany, Italy
Varietal: 50% Sangiovese and 50% Prugnolo Gentile
Price: $18

Domaine André & Mireille Tissot Cremant du Jura Extra Brut Rosé

There is also a pink sparkler, the NV Crémant du Jura Rosé Extra Brut: 40% Pinot Noir and 30% each Poulssard and Trousseau. The Rosé is more complicated to make non-dosage, with the lees reduction. The nose is quite shy, but the palate has some more obvious flavors of red berries, and they are also amplified by the mousse and the acidity. It fills your palate, and it’s clean and tasty. (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (LG) (7/2015)

Son Stéphane is the winemaker at this leading Jura estate, also known for its Sherry-like vin jaune. This rosé is at the other end of the taste spectrum, a light, delicate wine, with fresh red currant and raspberry flavors, some almonds, and a crisp streak of acidity to finish. (Wine Enthusiast 6/2006)

Light white cherry, strawberry and rose water notes extend through the dry and taut, yet elegant, finish. A lingering tea accent emerges in the end. (Wine Spectator -JM, Web-2015)

Region: Savoie, Jura, Italy
Varietal: 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Poulssard, 30% Trousseau
Price: $18

Gruet Brut Rose

There has been a recent label change with this wine. The new label has just started being shipped, so some customers may receive a label not featured on this page. This nearly garnet Rose, like all our non-vintage sparkling wines, is aged 24 months en tirage. It has a lovely, bright floral bouquet with hints of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. On the palate, it is rich and fruity in a dry, Brut style. The flavor of berries continues on the palate, revealing more strawberry, raspberry, cherry. (Winemakers Notes)
